Our diverse and experienced team includes licensed building practitioners, landscape designers, and concrete specialists. Our talent base also covers health and safety, quantity surveying, and construction and business management.

Kyle O’Brien

Managing Director

Kyle established BaseUp in 2012 after owning and operating a building and renovation company. Kyle holds qualifications in leadership and management and is a licensed building practitioner. He is responsible for implementing company policy and overall strategy and manages BaseUp’s national partnerships and key accounts. Kyle is proud of this well-qualified, multi-talented team.

Group Business Manager

Leo oversees all business activities. His multitude of talents includes a diploma in quantity surveying, one in construction management, and another in business management. Previous work experience includes working as a retail and development manager. He finds it a pleasure to work for a company that takes such good care of its clients and employees.

General Operations Manager

Jason joined BaseUp to start the Landscape Division for Kyle and has overseen its success and growth for the last six years. He comes from a strong background in Engineering and commercial construction and has a Diploma in Landscape Design. Having worked with leading Landscape Designers and installers as a Project Manager here and overseas, his knowledge helps find solutions for those difficult sites. In his current role Jason works with all team members to assist in delivering quality projects.

Coral Jackson

Compliance Manager

Coral has qualifications in workplace first aid, has a Bachelor of Physical Education(hons) degree, and fire warden and fire extinguisher certification. Before coming to BaseUp, Coral dedicated nearly 25 years working in relationship manager and health and safety roles with ACC and then CMT Excavations. She enjoys working for a company that is highly regarded in the industry.

Business Development Manager

Dillon’s role involves nurturing and developing relationships with customers, attending face-to-face meetings with clients, and developing new opportunities for business growth. Prior to BaseUp, Dillon gained ample management experience as a Business Development Manager, a Regional Manager and a Branch Manager for various different companies. He enjoys the genuine spirit of cooperation, dedication and shared goals within the BaseUp team.


Concrete Operations Manager

Paul has a solid reason for being part of the BaseUp team – concrete has been a significant focus of his working life. He has worked in the concrete industry since 1994 in his own Tauranga-based business, before joining BaseUp in 2015, where he is enjoying the team comradery and the company’s forward thinking.

Morey Bulling

Site Manager / Commercial

Morey has his eye on quality and accuracy, supervising and coordinating his team and sub-contractors, and ensuring equipment is up to standard. His many years working in the concrete industry includes substantial projects in Christchurch. Tauranga Crossing development and Tauranga Eastern Link toll road are sizeable jobs he has been involved with. He enjoys being part of a big team.

Brooke Elgar

Planning / Scheduling Manager

Brooke is the one ensuring everyone knows where they need to be and when. With over 10 years’ experience in planning, her efficiency in the scheduling of prep teams for dig outs and boxing, to the daily concrete pours is second to none.  She enjoys the fast-paced environment and values the teams good humoured banter as a bonus.


Foundations Project Manager

Initially devoting a few years as a labourer to our foundations team, Wes has now moved into project management. He runs all Classic Builders and GJ Gardener Homes foundation projects and manages our foundations team. Wes holds 12 years’ experience in the construction industry, including manager/foreman roles and will be studying Construction Management through Toi Ohomai over the next 3 years. He enjoys the friendly and helpful work environment as well as the support received from management.

Foundations Project Manager

Kalem plans and oversees our Foundation projects, implementing problem solving and damage control where needed. He holds qualifications in concrete construction – pile flooring and concrete foundations – with experience in the concrete industry as well as residential building and landscaping. Kalem values the great company culture at BaseUp and his hard working, dedicated workmates.

Procurement Officer

Nathan is responsible for quantifying flooring materials and organising the delivery of goods. He has 20 years prior experience working in building and construction sales, in both Tauranga and Melbourne, and has qualifications in Business Development. Nathan enjoys getting to work with all the BaseUp Teams.

Planning / Scheduling Coordinator

Emma plans and schedules the time management of jobs so they are efficiently executed. Equipped with a Bachelor of Communications, her scheduling skills and introduction to the construction industry begin in 2015, when she worked for a water tank company. She later gained additional experience working for a law firm. She enjoys being part of the fast-based environment at BaseUp and the workplace banter. 


Senior Estimator

Joe oversees all aspects of foundations from pricing and scheduling to client relationships, plus he manages the foundations team. Prior to this he was Construction Manager.  Joe brings 20 years’ building industry experience to BaseUp (he has carpentry trade certification). The team, the colleagues, and BaseUp’s progressive approach make coming to work a pleasure, he says.

Sandee’s responsibilities are estimating our retaining projects, ordering materials, invoicing and occasionally estimating foundation jobs. Prior to BaseUp Sandee worked for flooring & roofing companies as a quantity surveyor, estimating residential & commercial construction. She has achieved Level 4-6 Construction Management / Quantity Surveying qualifications and is currently studying for Honours. Sandee enjoys the supportive work culture at BaseUp and the invaluable mentoring.


Landscape Operations Manager

Jayden’s working day encompasses work scheduling, staff and project co-ordination, logistics and problem solving … and some administration and IT tasks. He has landscaping and drainage skills, backed with qualifications in management, horticulture and agriculture. He enjoys the challenges of his job, the professional culture and the company of his team mates.

Senior Landscape Consultant

Formerly a BaseUp Landscape Team Leader, Stephen moved into design and sales. He once owned a landscaping business and worked in orchard development and maintenance. He was involved in impressive park development projects, including UK Royal Parks assignments. Creating unique urban environments gives him great pleasure, as does being  part of a high achieving team.

Thomas Cullen

Landscape Consultant

Tom’s average work day includes meeting with clients to discuss their concrete and landscaping needs, designing and drawing plans, and quantifying and quoting jobs. Before joining BaseUp he fine-tuned his gardening, landscape design and customer services schools. While studying he found time for lifeguard work too. Tom enjoys the learning opportunities and new challenges available at BaseUp.

Andrew Ward

Landscape Consultant

Andrew brings a wealth of book-smarts and experience to our team. He joined BaseUp for the ‘can-do’ attitude the team offers and enjoys finding solutions for a range of landscapes. Whether it’s a first home, speculative or rental property, or a forever home, Andrew’s job entails listening to client desires and budgets, then drawing up a plan for the operations team to implement.

Junior Landscape Consultant

Saja’s role entails landscape design, scheduling and meeting with clients. Saja holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and prior experience in administration, landscape architecture, and freelancing. She enjoys the friendly work environment in the office and strives on the fast paced, efficient working habits throughout the team, which she believes shows through in the quality of work BaseUp provide.


Retaining Projects Manager

Mike oversees our retaining projects, meets with clients, and manages the day to day planning and scheduling for our retaining team, as well as being involved in project budgeting. Mike is a Licensed Building Practitioner, Qualified Carpenter and has completed Management and Leadership courses. He has eight years’ prior experience in managing excavation, retaining walls and driveways. Mike values working for a well-established and growing company and a team of good people.


Karen Bloxham

Finance Officer

Karen’s career has involved managing offices and keeping her eyes on the books. She brings her skills to BaseUp to ensure the nitty gritty is completed – creditor processing, monthly reconciliations, retention management, GL consolidating, debt collection – not everyone’s cup of tea but essential to smooth operations. It’s the people at BaseUp that have Karen smiling on her way to work each day.

HR/Health & Safety Advisor

Melissa’s role involves Health & Safety and engaging with our employees, such as managing recruitment or team problem-solving. Employees are the engine operating our BaseUp machine, so Melissa helps the wheels keep turning. She holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Human Resources & Psychology, and has years of experience managing people related processes across the HR discipline. Melissa likes that the team enjoy each other’s company, work hard and appreciate what they do.


Branch Manager

Brendon manages the day to day operations of BaseUp in Auckland. He supervises the Foundation and Landscaping Teams, liaises with clients and contractors, and handles project, resource and material procurement. Brendon has a background in bricklaying, landscaping and project management. He enjoys the good team environment at BaseUp, working with industry leaders and his challenging role with the ability to grow.

Project Manager

Lee’s 10 year background as a qualified builder, foreman and site manager make him well equipped for his project management role at BaseUp. Lee organises different sub trades for jobs, making sure jobs are prepped before starting so they run seamlessly. He navigates any issues and carries out quality assurance checks. Lee enjoys the good variety of office work and on site work and dealing with happy clients.

Project Manager

Sam is qualified in Project Management & Operations Supply Chain Management, with a background in estimating and project management for a large corporate company. His role entails setting up projects, arranging all recourses required and checking that the quality of the project is at a high standard. Sam values BaseUp as a good community of people who can have a laugh and are enjoyable to work with.


James has been estimating for BaseUp for a little over two years, first with the Tauranga Foundations Division and now for our Auckland team. His role involves estimating all the construction costs of concrete foundations, creating itemised quotes and managing our profit margins. He values the learning opportunities and constant growth in his role and the business, noting the company’s humour as an added bonus.
